Modern Art - Blue and White Porcelain
Jingdezhen blue and white porcelain is one of China's traditional famous porcelains. As a specialty of Jiangxi province, it is considered a treasure of the world in Jingdezhen. Originating in the Yuan Dynasty, Jingdezhen blue and white porcelain reached its peak during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It uses cobalt oxide to paint patterns on the unglazed body, then glazes and fires it once at high temperature. The blue and white colors complement each other beautifully, creating a pleasing and vibrant effect, and its beauty is enduring.
Blue and white porcelain, also known as white-ground blue and white porcelain, or simply blue and white, is one of the mainstream varieties of Chinese porcelain. Blue and white porcelain is made by painting decorations on white clay using natural cobalt pigment, then covering it with a transparent glaze, and finally firing it once at a high temperature of around 1300 degrees Celsius. This allows the pigment to fully penetrate the glaze and body, resulting in vibrant blue patterns that are elegant, beautiful, and refined. Blue and white porcelain is one of the most distinctive national characteristics of Chinese porcelain decoration, a type of underglaze porcelain, and one of the earliest methods invented in Chinese ceramic decoration.
